Since 2009, the WVBS has been a unique combination of outreach, fun, and fundraising. Over the years, the WVBS has raised more than £250,000 in six continents.
The WVBS was launched by Gary Loewenthal and was voted “Veg Event of the Year” by VegNews. In 2013, the campaign was taken over by A Well-Fed World. Since then, the campaign has supported a variety of events and charities, and the mainstream media, including CNN, have reported the great successes.
In 2017 ProVeg International took over the coordination of the campaign. ProVeg International is a food awareness organisation with the mission to reduce global animal consumption by 50% by the year 2040.
Between 15 – 30 April, groups and individuals around the world hold a WVBS to support their chosen charity.
Participants choose their own venue, what to sell, and how to use the proceeds. Beneficiaries may be local, national, or global.
WVBS is open to any group, commercial establishment or individual! You do not need to be part of a vegan or animal advocacy group to participate, as long as the bakes do not contain animal products.
