Vegan baking free from dairy and eggs
Vegan baking is not only animal and environmentally friendly, but also very diverse and super tasty! The offering ranges from traditional bakes such as chocolate cakes and apple pies, to American cupcakes and muffins. Every year, the WVBS demonstrates that eggs and dairy products are not necessary to make delicious baked treats. Here you can find some simple tips and tricks to be perfectly prepared.
Whether from soya, almonds, coconuts or grains, plant-based drinks are available in many different flavors. They can now be found in almost every supermarket around the world. Plant-based cream is also increasingly available.
Margarine and almond butter
Butter can simply be replaced by vegan margarine or a mild-tasting oil. More creative options include peanut or almond butter.
Banana instead of egg
In many recipes eggs can simply be removed from the list of ingredients. To bind the dough, bakers may instead use mashed banana, flaxseed and warm water, apple sauce or one of the many egg substitutes available, mainly made of corn starch and lupine or soya flour. When it comes to leavening the dough, a little baking soda does the job.
